Day 1: Nelson – Bark Bay

Our friendly guides will greet you at your Nelson accommodation and take you for breakfast at Toad Hall in Motueka. After a short briefing and final gear check we set off to the starting point, Marehau. Here we meet a water taxi that will transfer us to the Awaroa Lodge. After coffee in this renowned location we walk along the beach to Bark Bay where we camp for the evening. We will pass Onetahuti Beach, the longest beach in the Abel Tasman and Tonga Quarry, an abandoned stone works. Stone from here was used to build the Chief Post Office in Wellington.

On arrival to Bark Bay your camp sites will be set up and your gear will have been transferred into your Luxury Tents. Double and twinshare available. Your guides will cook you a delicious, fresh, gourmet meal while you relax and take in the beauty of the bay.

Day 2: Bark Bay – Anchorage

From Bark Bay we walk to Anchorage. We walk along the coast and cross the Falls River via a swing bridge. This is a four – five hour walk. There are plenty of optional side trips along this track, including to The Falls River Waterfall and Cleopatra’s Pool.

The Falls River Waterfall is a three-hour return trip off the main coastal walkway. This is a less explored area but the trek uphill through native bush pays off when the breathtaking rocky waterfall comes into view.

Cleopatra’s Pool is an hour return from the main track. It boasts a freshwater swimming hole with a natural water slide into the water and is a favorite with kids.

Similar to the night before, your equipment will be transferred for you and your campsite will be ready when you arrive. The guides will cook your gourmet meal while you relax, or explore the beautiful beach and search for glowworms.

Day 3:  Anchorage – Nelson

From Anchorage we head back towards Marehau.  We pass the Pitt Head Lookout, where we admire the view of the entire Abel Tasman National Park including where we have travelled in previous days.  Coastal tracks lead us around several small and stunning bays, including Akersten Bay, Appletree Bay, Coquille Bay, and Tinline Bay. We arrive back to our finish point in Marehau and our friendly guides drive you and your equipment back to your Nelson accommodation. We reach Nelson 6pm.
